Social Scrub

Find the old posts, replies, and likes an opponent could use against your candidate, before they do.

Private by design. Files are read on this computer only. Nothing is uploaded or saved anywhere.

How it works

Download the archive

The candidate requests a copy of their data from X and/or Facebook. It arrives as a .zip file, usually within a day.

Load it here

Drop the .zip below. Social Scrub reads every post, reply, comment, and like, and checks them against a list of risky words.

Review the flags

The riskiest items show first. Read each one, open the original, and mark it reviewed as you go.

How to download the archive

X (Twitter)

  1. Open Settings and privacy
  2. Go to Your account, then Download an archive of your data
  3. Confirm your password and the verification code
  4. Click Request archive
  5. When X emails that it's ready (often 24 hours or more), download the .zip

  3. Choose Download to device and pick the candidate's profile

Menu names move around as the platforms update their apps. If a step doesn't match, search the platform's help center for "download your information".

Load an archive

Drag the X or Facebook .zip file here, or

You can load more than one archive. Results are combined.

What we found

This is example data for a made-up candidate, so you can see how results look. Load a real archive above to replace it.

High riskThe kind of thing that ends up in an attack ad or mailer. Review these first.
Medium riskCould be used depending on the race and district. Worth a look.
Low riskUsually fine, but the candidate should know it's there.
